ABSTRACT: Student “teachability”—the personal advantages and disadvantages that students bring to school with them—plays an important role in public discussion of education policy. This report constructs the teachability index and school performance index for all states. The findings suggest some states with low student teachability perform at a higher level then the expectation based on student teachability index. So there is no one-to-one correspondence between teachability and school performance.
